The Central Bank of Sri Lanka
The Central Bank is the monetary authority of Sri Lanka. It has responsible for implementing monetary policies and regulating financial institutions in the country. It was established in 1950 and is headquartered in Colombo. The Central Bank's main functions are issuing and managing currency, maintaining price stability, regulating financial institutions, and managing the country's international reserves. The bank's chief executive is appointed by the President of Sri Lanka.
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has several departments which is responsible for carrying out its functions, including the Department of Economic Research, Department of Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Institutions, and the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems.
