General Certificate of Education - Ordinary Level (G.C.E. - O/L) is a Sri Lankan government’s education system that applies by the Examination Department in Sri Lanka. It is one of the key examinations to 16 years old students who study in government schools. Literally, it is grade 11, and entry examination to General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or G.C.E. (A/L). The G.C.E. O/L examination is held annually in December.
G.C.E. (O/L) syllabuses have six main subjects with three optional subjects. All 6 main G.C.E. (O/L) syllabuses / subjects are as follows as per its categorizations:
The above six main subjects are compulsory. However, students can select their religion and primary language.
There optional subjects are categorized in to three areas as given below. Students should choose three subjects from each area. All of optional subjects may not available in each government school.
Once the paper connection completed, result will be announced and posted to each school and private candidates. The G.C. E (O/L) grades are given below.
*Grade "W" is considered as failed.

ReplyDeleteONLY ONE subject should be selected from one category. In this article it is said that "Students should choose three subjects from each area" Here there is an English error.
And in the second category, if you select Drama and Theatre OR Western Music OR Oriental Music OR Carnatic Music OR Bharatha Dancing OR Oriental Dancing, a practical exam is also available. That means, students have to face the written exam and the practical test.
In the second category, if any select Art, no practical exams but they have to draw and color the paintings.
In the second category, if any select Sinhala Literature OR English Literature OR Tamil Literature OR Arabic Literature, there are no practical exams, they have to face just only the written exam. In the written exam, they only have to write long essays.
